Foothills Landfill Expansion Cell 6

Foothills Regional Services Commsion contracted Devcon to excavate the new landfill cell, expanding Cell 6. This required removing topsoil, subsoil, clay, and rock cobble. After preparing the Cell 6 subgrade, crews installed a 750 mm clay liner compacted to 96% SPMDD, with moisture kept 2–5% above optimum. Additionally, Devcon supplied and installed a 60-mil HDPE liner, Geosynthetic Clay Liner, two-sided geo-composite, heavy non-woven geotextile, 200 mm perforated PVC leachate collection pipe, 300 mm HDPE riser, 150 mm PVC sub-drain pipes and risers, and all related fittings and connections.Once the geosynthetic liner system was completed, a tire-shred protection layer was placed.

Site mobilization and survey

Conducted site mobilization, survey and lay down establishment.

Excavated topsoil subsoil and common materials then stockpiled and placed fill as required.

Subdrain excavation and clay liner installation

Completed subdrain excavation and installation followed by placement of the clay liner to all engineering specifications.

HDPE liner and leachate system installation

Managed tandem installation of the HDPE liner and leachate collection systems.

Site finishing and demobilization

Completed final site finishing including tire shred installation landscaping cleanup and full demobilization.
