Kananaskis River Wave Build

The Kananaskis River Wave Build required precise manipulation of riverbed materials to create permanent wave features for recreational kayaking and rafting. Working in a sensitive environmental area with strict regulations, our team had to execute complex hydraulic engineering while minimizing ecological impact.

The project demanded coordination of multiple heavy equipment units including excavators, dozers, and specialized river-work machinery to shape underwater topography with millimeter precision

Devcon process

1

Site Preparation & Environmental Setup

Established work zones, installed sediment barriers, and positioned environmental monitoring equipment. Coordinated with fisheries officers for timing restrictions and wildlife protection protocols.
2

River Diversion & Excavation

Implemented temporary water diversion systems and began precision excavation of the wave features using GPS-guided equipment. Maintained continuous water quality monitoring throughout operations.
3

Rock Placement & Hydraulic Tuning

Developed and executed a placement strategy for boulder features and fine-tuned underwater topography. Conducted multiple test runs with kayakers to optimize the wave characteristics and safety features.
4

Restoration & Quality Control

Completed site restoration, removed temporary structures, and conducted final hydraulic testing. Achieved all environmental benchmarks and safety certifications.
